For this collage I took clips from my various productions, including the twelve hour PROCESS [at the time I was calling my performances PROCESSES] at THE SAN FRANCISCO ART INSTITUTE for my masters. A bit of trivia: the redhead is Sybil Holiday. At the time she was the manager of the San Francisco strip club THE LUSTY LADY. She became a famous dominatrix.
The 12-hour piece at the S.F. Art Institute combined a joyful primitive eroticism – the childhood desire to mix up ingredients, to make a big mess – with the surreal effect of extending the length of performance time. This was my first piece that proclaimed itself as pure shamanistic art.
